What is Zonta?

Zonta
is a word form the Lakota Sioux Indian language that means "honest & trustworthy." 

Zonta's emblem, a composite of five Lakota symbols, means "banding together for a purpose."

Zonta International has a leadership role in advancing women and children legally, politically, socially and economically through a long-standing relationship with United Nations agencies.

Zonta International was established November 8, 1919 in Buffalo, New York, with nine charter clubs.  Zonta now has 1,188 clubs and approximately 35,000 members in 71 countries.

The Zonta Club of Douglas County members are a cross-section of business and professional leaders who volunteer their time, inspiration and financial support for the betterment of the community and world.
